IN SEARCH OF OPRAH

Last week while I was in Chicago for some meetings I decided to make the pilgrimage to Harpo Studios. For the last 25 years, I have been a huge fan, like countless of millions of people. The only difference: I am a dude. I still remember that day, when I got home from school, turned on the television to catch a rerun on Three's Company. It was 4pm, and Jack, Janet, and Chrissy was nowhere to be found. In fact, Mr. Roper was gone too. "Who is that woman!" Get her off and put my show back on, now! It only took a couple of episodes to catch on and become an Oprah devotee. Over the years my loyalty has waned, on and off -like so many things in life. However, during her final season I was hooked. I was grown up, and married, and Oprah was an old woman.
Rej and I set the DRV everyday and watched her faithfully on the weekends. What was better than Oprah? "Oprah behind the Scenes." This show was truly amazing. If they would have had that show even ten years ago, I think Oprah's ratings would have rose. What better than to see how the show is made, and drama that surrounds it. Needless to say, the last year of Oprah reinvigorated my love for her show. It as masterful television. Finally, our DVR is now at 22% full, instead of 87%. Back to Chicago. We took a side trip to find Oprah. It was late at night, but we found her studios. There is something nostalgic about driving up to her building, and seeing it in real life. Perhaps this is what Elvis fans feel like when they go to Graceland. We took our photos of the building, signage, and sadly, of Rosie's logo.
Really, Rosie? What is Oprah thinking? I called out her name, in the dead of night: OPRAH! OPRAH! She didn't come out. She was most likely in California.
