The other week my daughter had a sleep over at the Baltimore Aquarium. It was her 8th birthday present from our family friend, Lynne (aka Grandma Lynne). She was really excited and looking forward to the experience.
On the other hand, I was ambivalent about having her leave for the night without an immediate family member.
As she jumped into Lynne's car, and put her seat belt on she looked at me and smiled, "Bye dad!"
I teared up.
That was a sad day.
I am still sad.
